Recording a GPS track

How to record a basic GPS track of your workout or trip

In addition to route planning, Footpath can also record a GPS track of your run, ride, walk, or hike. You can even use the route planner while you’re recording a GPS track.

Recording an activity

If you follow an existing route with audio navigation, Footpath will automatically record the GPS track for you to save and analyze later.

If you want to create a freeform GPS recording on iPhone without creating a route first:

  1. Tap the menu button in the upper left
  2. Tap the Tracks tab at the bottom
  3. Select “Record GPS Track”

During your activity, you can use the recording controls in the lower left to start, pause, and stop your recording.

Hide GPS tracking interface

To see the full topographic map while recording an activity, you can hide the GPS tracking interface using the 🔽 arrow at the bottom of the screen.

Recording an activity on Apple Watch

If you have an Apple Watch, you can also record a freeform GPS track in Apple Watch app, and it will sync over to your iPhone’s track tab when you’re finished.
